Top 5 iOS Navigation Apps in Latin America: Q4 2020 Performance

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the navigation and maps category on the iOS platform witnessed varied user engagement across the top applications in Latin America. Sensor Tower's data provides a closer look at the trends during this period.

Google Maps maintained its strong presence, with downloads peaking at 200 thousand in early October and a consistent weekly active user base, reaching as high as 14 million towards mid-December.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw an increase in downloads over the quarter, climbing from 70 thousand to nearly 100 thousand by the end of December. Active users fluctuated, with a noticeable dip to 6.5 million in late November but rebounding to nearly 7 million in mid-December.

Google Earth experienced downloads in the range of 20 thousand, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter. Weekly active users saw a decrease overall, from 140 thousand at the start of the quarter to 130 thousand by the end.

Google Street View showed a relatively stable trend with downloads hovering around 4 thousand and active users seeing a small increment from 5 thousand to nearly 5 thousand by December's end.

Sygic GPS Navigation & Maps, while having lower download numbers that ranged from 3 thousand to under 2 thousand, saw a steady revenue stream with figures such as 600 in late November. The weekly active users for Sygic also showed a decline, starting at 5.6 thousand and dipping to 4.2 thousand by the end of the quarter.
